Fitness Designs Physical Therapy & Sport Rehab, in business for 20 years, has been an Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce member since 1993. Fitness Designs provides a variety of outpatient physical therapy services from weekend warriors to professional athletes ages six months to 95 years.

“I feel our employees and commitment to service sets us apart from the rest. Most of our people have been here more than 10 years,” said owner Christopher Pifer.

When asked what made physical therapy his passion, Pifer stated, “While in college my interests were related to the medical field and how the human body works and why it breaks down. I quickly learned that physical therapy combined these two principles into one exciting field. While working with individuals with injuries I see the joy people get from returning to activity and this inspires me to do the best I can.”

Their market is not limited to a considerable number of post–operative orthopedic patients from a variety of surgeons locally and from the St. Louis area. Fitness Designs also treats many of the strains and sprains that affect us all as we go about our daily routine. In the last ten years, as our population has aged, we have seen an increase in the number of people for balance and gait issues.

Fitness Designs Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab is active in many organizations, including local 5K runs, golf scrambles and bike races. They are currently serving the YMCA by making presentation to volunteer coaches regarding injury prevention and first aid. Pifer believes in giving back to the community and believes we can all learn from a quote by Harry Truman: “It’s amazing what you can get done if you do not care who gets the credit.”

In closing, Pifer said, “The Chamber is a place where a small business like ours can develop roots and grow with the community.”
